The newest face of Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld’s current muse, Blake Lively, appeared in ads for Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbags for the first time on Monday.
Lagerfeld announced Lively as the new face of the campaign back in January, according to People. The designer called Lively “kind of an American dream girl.”
The actress responded by calling the opportunity more than a “dream come true.” She sang the praises of Lagerfeld and Chanel, saying, “I have such a respect for fashion and such an appreciation for it that if there are people like Karl Lagerfeld out there designing, who am I? I want to bow down to them and be a representative for them if they’ll have me.”
TheHuffington Post recalls Lively’s deep history rooted in the fashion industry. Her mother, Elaine, fronted a Hanes campaign and partnered with her daughter to design dresses. “We’d always go down to the garment district with my father," she said. "We would go to really cool vintage stores or boutiques and we’d get a bunch of clothes and we’d sew a lot.”
